Labor Day
Today I went hiking with some dear friends. In the cool, shady canyon we were greeted with "curtains and fountains" of morning glories. I haven't seen them like that for years as it takes special conditions for them to come out. As it gets cooler I want to plan some serious hikes every Saturday. We'll see if that happens. On my long list of things to paint, I want to do a series of morning glories.

Daisy Field
Grandpa left me daisies.
Fields of daisies white.
Sprinkled, starry daisies,
in the scattered light.
Daisies on the water,
Daisy crowns and rings.
Daisies by the armful.
Drowsy daisy dreams.
Magic
Down to the woods, to the dock at the pond, where sweet summer magic lies sleeping,
we carry out bags full of wonder and fear: precious packages within our keeping.
With a brilliant explosion the magic awakes, raining glittering light on the water;
Fountains and burst of colorful glory, to shine though darks nights ever after.
